Knijff Agro BV - The Netherlands

Achieving energy self-sufficiency with solar, wind and biogas

Knijff Agro BV is completely self-sufficient in green energy. Own power consumption is compensated by solar panels (75 kWh/hour) and share in wind farm (63 kWh/hour). The CHP provides the company with heat and the remaining electricity. The excess electricity is supplied to the local power grid. The biogas plant currently produces 10.5 GWh / year of biogas. This amounts to 630-650 Nm³/h biogas of which about 55% is fed to a CHP generating a total of 1486 kW power and 45% is now fed to the green gas plant.

99,5% methane recovery via 3-stage membrane system
99,7% uptime of the installation

A sustainable energy journey

The green gas is injected into the Liander 4 bar low calorific gas network. Because of the good results and because of the current favorable market conditions of green gas, Knijff Agro BV decided in 2022 to exchange the current green gas installation for a Carborex®MS 1350 installation. In 2022, the installation has reached the milestone of 5 million m³ of green gas production since inception. There’s a 99,5 % methane recovery via 3-stage membrane system and the installation is 99,7% uptime.
